Also..is anyone here in EMSAP [Early Medical School Acceptance Program]? I was recently accepted in it, but I don't know much about it, aside from what I've asked others and academic counselors. What can I expect it to generally be like? Thanks again!

For regular genetics, avoid Dr. Andrews, b/c she just reads off Powerpoint slides.
Although I only had Dr. Andrews for Anatomy, I agree completely with Farhan. She'll put you to sleep, fast. A good resource for teachers is www.ratemyprofessors.com. If you have any psychology classes you need to take, ask me and I'll be glad to help.

Hey......CLEP's a great way to get hours. I think UAB limits it though....you can only have 45 combined CLEP/AP hours when you enter college. As far as which ones to take, the English composition one is fairly easy and can get you out of both 101 and 102. I took the sociology CLEP test without ever having opened a sociology textbook and passes, so I'd recommend taking that. If you're taking a foreign language and your school doesn't offer an AP class in it, then you should take that CLEP test too. You can CLEP out of up to 9 hours of that. Those are a few of the ones I took, so hope it helps.
Graduating early isn't really that hard, especially if you're bringing a lot of credits from AP/CLEP classes with you. Just make sure to start your science classes early and you'll finish well ahead of time. Summer classes are probably gonna be necessary, but they're not that bad....the campus isn't as busy and they end up being fun.
Not sure if you have to take Bio 1 and 2, but if you do, people seem to dislike Dr. Cusic. She really makes kids work in her class, and you have to earn your A.....I love her though, b/c she's really easy to get along with....my single favorite professor. If you wanna coast along, then take them with Dr. Watson...his classes are always easy. For regular genetics, avoid Dr. Andrews, b/c she just reads off Powerpoint slides. Angus isn't that much better, but he's at least better than her.
Anyhoo, hope this helps....good luck.

thanks! these questions are directed towards anyone who is familiar with UAB's core curriculum: - Which classes should I CLEP out of? I'm not a fan of English, liberal arts, humanities, etc., and would like to save time taking by the CLEP tests in place of those classes. Is this a very difficult process? - How easy is it to graduate early? I'm hoping to condense my undergraduate tenure into 3 years maximum. Would I have to take the dreaded summer courses? or just load myself with courses during the school year? - Are there any classes/professors I should avoid as a freshman biology major? ALL RESPONSES APPRECIATED. thanks again! I'm looking forward to next year and participating in MSA activities - Arianna Mohiuddin

I'm originally from Gulfport, MS, but I attend boarding school in Columbus, MS..which is about 2 hours away from Birmingham. I was also wondering to whom I could direct general questions about academic life at UAB. i just had a few questions about classes, orientation, etc. i'm a biology major, but i hope to graduate within 2-3 years. thanks!! - Arianna Mohiuddin
